Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! The film has been adapted from Sharadindu Bandopadhyay's detective novel of the same name. It was released on 26 February 2015. The movie was a critical as well as commercial success. In 1943, Byomkesh Bakshi is a detective fiction writer of Kolkata, who takes on cases that interest him. He is an amateur detective who uses his astute reasoning skills and knowledge of the human psychology to solve the mysteries he encounters. When a client seeks his help, Byomkesh agrees to investigate a case where the client's sister went missing. Initially he refuses to take on the case, but after meeting her husband Ajit Singha Roy, Byomkesh accepts it and seeks to crack it. Gauri, the missing woman is a socially active woman, who is vocal about her independence. She was married to Ajit Singha Roy after being rescued from her home at the age of twelve. Her brother Pankaj has spent his life trying to find out where Gauri went after she disappeared. Ajit suspects that his wife has been kidnapped by Thakurbari, a brothel run by Tinkori Makhanya. He questions Tinkori's daughter Bindu, who tells him that the brothel inmates have not seen her. He next goes to meet Ganu Babu, an old associate of Tinkori Makhanya and enquires about Gauri's whereabouts. Ganu Babu tells him to approach Rati Sarkar who is the head mistress of Tinkori's brothel. While questioning Rati, Byomkesh believes that she is trying to hide something and believes that he will be able to solve Gauri's disappearance. Meanwhile, Ajit is attacked by two thugs hired by Thakurbari, but manages to escape. On coming to know that his wife is missing, Ajit reaches Tinkori's brothel where he tells Gauri's brother Pankaj about Gauri being missing for three years now. He asks Pankaj not to imprison her as he wants his sister back safe and sound. Pankaj becomes hopeful by hearing Ajit's words, and tells him that he will not rest until he finds his sister. Byomkesh's assistant Satyaki assists him by tailing Ajit, thinking that he is helping Byomkesh. On tailing Ajit, Satyaki comes to know that Gauri had eloped with her lover on the eve of her wedding with Ajit. One day, while returning from Ganu Babu's place, Byomkesh gets attacked. He is saved by Ajit who has been trying to seek vengeance on Ganu Babu for his actions regarding Gauri's disappearance. cfa1e77820
